Meet Meeka Owens

Meeka Owens is a Cincinnati City Councilmember, community advocate, and candidate for Hamilton County Commissioner who has dedicated her career to building a more equitable, affordable, and sustainable community.

Raised in Cincinnati, Meeka’s commitment to public service was shaped by her lived experience and her deep roots in the community. Before being elected to City Council, she spent years working in the nonprofit and community development sectors, advocating for families, neighborhoods, and economic opportunity across the region.

On Cincinnati City Council, Meeka has been a champion for affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and economic opportunity for working families. She has led efforts to expand clean energy programs, address rising housing costs, improve neighborhood investment, and ensure that economic development benefits all residents.

Meeka believes that government should work for everyone. Her leadership focuses on keeping Hamilton County affordable, supporting healthy and safe communities, and building an economy that works for every neighborhood across all 49 jurisdictions in the county.

As Hamilton County Commissioner, Meeka is focused on delivering practical solutions that protect residents’ paychecks, expand opportunity, and strengthen the region for the next generation.
